Very informing post. If you would like to listen to BBC Radio on the iPhone - I strongly recommend BBC Radio iPhone Streams - it is easily the most convenient way to listen to BBC Radio on the iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch and it's free at BBCStreams.com.

Thanks for that; I hadn't heard of the Radio Time one, will look into it.

I suppose there is always a possibility that Sky will improve their app... :-)

I second that. The Sky app is very, very poor. Tioti TV+ leads the pack. The new Radio Time app sits between the two but Tioti is just so much slicker, and RT doesn't have Sky record.
