BlackBerry Storm – keyboard not so great

You have probably noticed the BlackBerry Storm posters everywhere. Children think they are for the iPhone, that’s how closely BlackBerry have copied Apple. But in one respect BlackBerry (or RIM, the company that makes them) feels they have improved on the iPhone: the Storm has a “click” screen for its touch keypad.

I’ve suspected that this is not such a brilliant idea, and now comes a hands-on review that confirms this:

…in reality the whole click performance makes it more difficult to type, because every time you press the key you have to wait for the click to spring back before you can type another key, how frustrating if you want to type something at speed…

Hmm. A “slow and frustrating typing experience“. How nice.

David Pogue hates the Storm too.
