Apple make other stuff too, you know…

While we wait for more news on the UK launch of iPhone, Apple are forging ahead with their computer products too. I visited the Apple Store at Brent Cross yesterday to look at the new aluminium iMac, which is a seriously sexy piece of kit. With its black glass and brushed aluminium, it would hold its own in even the most modern minimalist pad.

I also played around with some of the new software. iMovie is really impressive now, with live previews of any clip simply by dragging the mouse, and Apple’s new spreadsheet (called Numbers) has a lot of really clever innovation. Instead of one grid taking up the whole sheet, you can put in independent sheets, graphs, pictures etc, to make a beautiful-looking document that still has all the functionality of a spreadsheet. If you’ve ever wondered why it’s so hard to make a good-looking sheet in Excel, you’ll love Numbers.
