iPhone on Amazon and Expansys
You may have seen news reports about the iPhone being listed by Amazon.co.uk and Expansys. These listings are purely speculative: there is no price, no indication of launch date, and no network information. Although they talk about “pre-order” in fact all that you can do is ask to be notified when the iPhone is available (if at all- there’s no guarantee they will be able to sell it). So there is nothing of substance here: they don’t know any more than anyone else, and are simply trying to capitalise on the iPhone mania. Nothing to see here.

I don’t understand, surely they would need Apple’s approval to list it?

Not really. Think about it: they are not offering to sell you an iPhone. There is no price, no release date, no “buy” button. So they have made it look as much as possible like a normal product page, but in fact, without those crucial bits, it’s just saying “there’s this thing called iPhone that we hope like hell to be able to sell; if you want one, we’ll let you know if we get it.”
