Apple results: 270,000 iPhones in two days

Just as I said might be the case, the AT&T activations considerably understated iPhone sales in the first two days of selling, and Apple have confirmed that 270,000 iPhones were sold over the launch weekend. Steve Jobs says Apple is on target to sell 1 million iPhones in the first full quarter.

Considering that we are talking about an item that retails for $600 plus a two-year airtime contract, that’s not bad going. It’s under the 500,000 to 700,000 estimate that Piper Jaffray came up with, but then that was just an estimate, with nothing to back it up. (Their initial estimate was only 200,000).
